By becoming a member, you enable us to continue actively promoting social interaction, group activities and experiences, especially for young people, school classes, families and people with disabilities. We firmly believe in the contribution we make towards supporting a society built on the principles of solidarity, responsibility and joyful living.  

Questions and answers

  • Membership is valid for one year from the date of issue. 

  • Shortly before your membership expires, you will receive a reminder letter from us and your membership will be automatically renewed. You can always stop it from being renewed automatically in the guest portal.

  • Personal memberships are issued to one person and can only be used by that person. The non-personal School and Group Membercards are transferable and can be used by different people within an organisation.

  • Yes, membership of the Swiss Youth Hostels is also accepted in the hostels in the Hostelling International network around the world. 

  • Families can now enjoy almost the same benefits as before by purchasing a Membercard for just CHF 30.00. With a Membercard, the whole family can continue to stay overnight in our youth hostels and everyone living in the same household with you will continue to automatically benefit from the membership discount of CHF 7.00. Age is irrelevant and the accompanying guests do not need their own cards. 

    If someone in your household would like to travel without the cardholder, the Membercard Extra is now available for just CHF 15.00. This Membercard Extra cardholder can also take everyone from the same household on a trip and everyone benefits. 

    You now have the choice and can either benefit from a membership discount or purchase the entire package for CHF 45.00.
